The book captures a critical period of the Indian history when an unprecedented, devastating COVID-19 pandemic emerges in the beginning of the 2020. India being a diverse country, and the second most populous nation in the world, the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the society has been heterogeneous and lethal. The book aims to better prepare the Indian society in mitigating the impact of pandemic as a result of future waves of COVID-19 infection through identification of several underlying key socio-demographic factors by comparing infection transmission and deaths between highest-affected and least-affected Indian states, and how these factors can be intervened in controlling COVID-19 disease spread across the population. Thus, this book may help policy leaders to design more effective interventional strategies in preventing the deleterious outcomes of pandemic on the Indian society.
