The Season of Enough

By Pramod K. Gupta

At the heart of The Season of Enough is a simple question: Can we continue to want more from life without overlooking what is already here? I wrote this novel to explore that question through Harsh’s later years—not as a search for perfect answers, but as a gradual awakening to the value of an imperfect, unfinished life.

About the Book

At the heart of The Season of Enough is a simple question: Can we continue to want more from life without overlooking what is already here? I wrote this novel to explore that question through Harsh’s later years—not as a search for perfect answers, but as a gradual awakening to the value of an imperfect, unfinished life. Harsh’s stroke changes his body, but this is not a story that treats suffering as a gift. Recovery remains slow, uneven, and deeply human. What changes is the way he sees: the wife who has quietly carried so much, the sons whose lives cannot be measured by his expectations, the friends who remember earlier versions of him, and the ordinary moments he once hurried past. In these pages, “enough” does not mean resignation. Harsh still hopes, worries, desires, and sometimes resists. It means that gratitude no longer has to wait for every problem to be solved. Love can coexist with disappointment. A quiet house need not be empty. A damaged body can still carry an abundant life. To every reader who has postponed happiness until tomorrow, loved someone across distance, begun again after loss or illness, or watched time change the shape of family: thank you for walking beside these characters. I hope this story leaves you looking a little more closely at the life already around you—and recognising, within all that remains unfinished, your own season of enough. Contents
