John Louth is senior research fellow and director for defence, industries and society at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies in Whitehall, London, the oldest defence and security think tank in the world. He served as an officer in the Royal Air Force for sixteen years before working as a consultant and programme director extensively throughout the defence and energy sectors. His work has included the audit and governance of the UK strategic deterrent and government-industry partnering initiatives. Dr. Louth teaches at the University of Roehampton Business School in London. He is a specialist adviser to the UK’s House of Commons Defence Select Committee and a non-executive adviser to NDI Ltd. Dr Louth’s work is published across a broad spectrum of outlets and he is a regular commentator to BBC, ITN, Sky News and Aljazeera networks.
