Jasjit Singh, AVSM VrC VM (Retd), one of India’s leading strategic experts, was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the President of India for his outstanding contribution to national defence. A distinguished former fighter pilot and Director of Operations of the Indian Air Force, he headed India’s premier think tank, Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, New Delhi, from 1987-2001. Author of a number of books including Air Power in Modern Warfare; and India’s Defence Spending, he has published extensively on strategic and defence issues. Visiting lecturer at defence and war colleges in India and abroad, he is Director General, Centre for Air Power Studies, New Delhi.
